Ron Carter's double-bass workshops in Wrocław
One of the most original, creative and influential double-bass jazz players, Ron Carter, is coming to Wrocław to run open jazz workshops from March 4th to 6th. The visit is organised by the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław within the Visiting Professors programme.
Ron Carter is one of the most extraordinary double-bass players in the history of jazz. He used to play with Miles Davis, has recorded over 2,000 albums and his musical collaborations include the most acknowledged artists like Tommy Flanagan, Gil Evans, Lena Horne, Bill Evans, B.B. King, The Kronos Quartet, Dexter Gordon, Wes Montgomery, Bobby Timmons and many more. His technique is stunning, however, sparsely applied as he concentrates on the rythm, a very precise and motoric beat. For twenty years, Carter has been teaching in City College, New York, he's the member of the board and the honorary member of Jazz Foundation of America. In 2004 he was awarded doctor honoris causa title by Berklee College of Music."It's the effort of the Municipality that made it possible to invite Ron Carter to Wrocław.
