The idea of WAH

Creation of WAH is a response to European tendencies. Yearly Academic Ranking of World Universities clearly proves that except Great Britain, European university schools aren’t competitive with USA or Japanese ones.

Such state of matters is caused by numerous reasons but the analysis implies the conclusion that universities in USA attract the best scientists and students, giving them chance to work together in the most friendly conditions.

We're eager to make Polish universities join the best academic units in the ranks. We wish our students and scientists didn't leave the country looking for possibilities of self-development. However, constant cooperation of all those who are concerned, including the cities, is crucial here.

University schools do not exist on their own, being greatly influenced by the community they act in and cooperate with. Prestigious universities guarantee investment attractiveness. The investors themselves are sure of this, as they diligently observe local job market in order to check if they can be provided not only with workers but with smart people trained in solving problems.

Head European metropolises like Munich, Stockholm and Milan have already spotted it. This is the harmonious cooperation between the cities and academic environment that led to their success.

During the last few years Wrocław put a lot of effort to improve cooperation with the universities. We consciously head for making such conditions that foster gifted students and facilitate building knowledge based society. It is our duty to continue this work and give it a new dimention.
